Media justice activists won a ten-year long campaign in December 2010 to pass the Local Community Radio Act. The new law mandates the government to expand the Low Power FM (LPFM) service, creating the potential for thousands of new community radio station licenses across the country like your own! The Prometheus Radio Project aims to spread the word far and wide so social justice groups and marginalized communities – those whose voices have been excluded from commercial media - know about this chance, and can begin the the application process if they want a station.
We have produced a variety of PSAs to be aired on Community Radio stations like your own. With these you can let your listeners know about this exciting opportunity for more community media.
