WXOJ Electronic Communication Policy

Email and Discussion Board Policy

Valley Free Radio resolved to form two electronic mail moderated list serves for the purpose of communcation among members. The board clerk will solicit and maintain email addresses from general membership meetings and from committee chairs. These lists will be the property of Valley Free Radio and will survive board clerks and committee charis. The board will appoint list serve moderators and web facilitators will remove subscribers from listserves or web bulletin boards who violate board policy ground rules for list serves or bulletin boards. Subscribers to the VFR list serves or discussion boards may not engage in commercial activity or hate speech, as defined under the state of Massachusetts statues, or personal attack, as may be defined by the grievance committee. The purpose of the primary general email list will be announcements only, for meeting date and time information or resolutions and proposals under consideration for approval by the membership board or committees, posted by the moderator, but not for the purpose of debate or discussion. All data will remain property of VFR and will survive any board appointments or moderators.

A web site bulletin board moderated by a board appointed web facilitator or committee in addition to a secondary list serve, both moderated, "opt-in" or "opt-out," by subscribing or unsubscribing will serve the purpose of discussion or debate. This will give members the choice of either participating in ongoing discussions or simply receiving announcements when they have provided contact information.

Email moderators and web facilitators will be members in good standing, board appointed, and under contract in order that all data is and will remain the property of Valley Free Radio. Moderators for the discussion email list or facilitators for the web-site bulletin board will insure that all discussion and debate is archived and accessible to members but that said archives also are and will remain the property of Valley Free Radio.

You may provide us with your email address to be included in our moderated administrative email group. In this case, you will receive information about meetings and be able to view policy documents under consideration by the general membership. You may also opt to participate in a VFR-moderated discussion email group. In both groups you may not engage in commercial activity, personal attacks, or hate speech. The moderator may remove you from the group for violating these basic ground rules. You may appeal this decision to the board of directors.
