Anti-Racism Policy

Valley Free Radio's anti-racism policy, passed by unanimous consent, Fall 2004. VFR resolves to name, confront, and dismantle racism within the organization and in the broader community. In support of its anti-racism plan, the VFR board of directors formed an anti-racism committee composed of people of color within the organization who volunteer for the committee and white anti-racist allies who are nominated by people of color in VFR to serve on the committee.

In addition to this resolution, the VFR board of directors authorized two members to draft a plan, which was also approved by the membership. The plan consisted of the formation of an Anti-Discrimination Committee, which was approved by the membership at a later meeting, and the proposal that as many VFR members as possible be encouraged to attend a People's Institute workshiop on undoing racism in Springfield in the fall.

VFR policy, approved by the board of directors and passed by unanimous consensus by the membership in summer 2005. Any initiatives or proposals concerning people of color considered for consensus approval by the board or membership must be created and reviewed by the people of color within VFR.
