Anti-Discrimination Committee
VFR policy, passed by unanimous consensus by the membership, Spring 2005.The purpose of the Anti-Discrimination Committee is to insure full representation within the VFR membership, committees, board of directors and employees by race especially, and by gender, class, sexual orientation, disability, and age.
The ADC will be composed of a majority of people of color within VFR who volunteer for the committee. The ADC wil advise and consult the board of directors and membership regarding the composition of nomination slates for VFR positions to insure full representation. Should the ADC decide that a slate of nominees is severely inadequae to achieve the VFR goal of full representaiton (as defined above) they may recommend that the general meeting request additional nominations. If after an election, the ADC determines that the board remains severely underrepresented, it may submit a proposal to the general meeting that new elections be held within three months to increase representation.
The ADC may also advise and consult the board of directors about lists of prospective candidates for employed positions and may make recommendations to the board regarding the need for an appended job search. Members of ADC who are nominees or who are being considered for employment must temporarily exclude themsevles from participating in committee discussion or decision making to avoid potential conflicts of interest.
