WECI rules and policies

ALL DJ’S SHOULD READ

Missing shows- If you are unable to do your show, you must find another DJ to cover the slot. If no other DJs are available to cover your show you may then call Ad. Staff members.  DO NOT CALL THE AD STAFF UNTIL YOU’VE TRIED OTHER DJs.  Missing more than 2 shows without finding another DJ to cover, or getting approval of Ad. Staff will result in losing your slot.

Underwriting- All underwriting announcements are to be on minidisc and pre-approved by the Administrative Staff. Expiration dates for underwriting will be listed in the logs.

Dedications- Businesses not paying for underwriting for your show are not to be mentioned on the air!  Songs may be “sent out” to individuals, but not to businesses.  This is an FCC rule as well.   If a business would like to be mentioned on the air, they are more than welcome to become an underwriter.  They can contact Naomi Chalew at 983-1246.  If you would like to get underwriters for your show she can give you the necessary information and paperwork.

Coming in late- If the DJ that is supposed to come on after you is not there by the time their slot starts, and a replacement has not arrived, use the phone list in the studio to call them. Put on I-tunes, directions are in the studio.  If you can not do so, you must be taught.  THIS IS A REQUIREMENT TO BEING A DJ.  Any Ad-staff member will be happy to show you how to use it.  If the DJ after you is habitually late for their show, report it to the Administrative Staff, they will be warned, and if it continues, they will lose their show.

Profanity- Profanity is not tolerated. Making a “mistake” on the air is not an excuse. This is not just WECI’s policy, but FCC policy as well. In fact THE FCC FINE FOR TRANSMITTING INDECENT/OBSCENE MATERIAL IS $5,000!!!!  So if any DJ are caught breaking these rules, there will be no hesitation replacing them.  DJs playing music in genre’s high in profanity should contact the Music Director about targeting sources of Radio Edit material. 

Checking out CDs- The Office is open weekdays from noon-5pm, and sporadically during other times.  DJs may come in when the office is open and check out CDs for up to a week for their shows. We will begin charging late fees for overdue CDs. DJs can call the office at 983.1246 to see if it is open, or can contact the Music Director or Record Librarian to schedule a time to come in if normal office hours don’t work. 

Logs- We are required by the FCC to keep logs, and we are expecting to be audited soon. We all need to sign the logs when we come in and leave, and make sure to take readings hourly. If you have not signed the log, it will be assumed that you missed your show.
