How do I get a street address from a degrees minutes seconds geographic co-ordinate?

The Answer

We don't know. But here is a good start. You can use www.topozone.com

On the left towards the top, go to get a map, and click on Deg/min/sec

There will be a box that comes up on the next screen where you can enter your degrees minutes seconds co-ordinate, round the last number of the seconds to the nearest whole number, (e.g. 44 22 36.784 WOULD BE 44 22 37)

It will make a nice little x for you. You can look at the map on different resolutions closest is often most helpful (1-25,000), but it sometimes helps to go out further. It will only do one point at a time and the x is rather small. You can look at where the x is and start to guess where things are.

Then go back to the geocode tool mentioned in http://www.prometheus.tao.ca/fcc.shtml and try just dropping addresses into it based on your educated guesses until you hit the jackpot. Also useful is www.terraserver.com for an aerial photograph.
