Join Prometheus in Detroit!
This June, the Prometheus Radio Project will be participating in two amazing gatherings in Detroit, Michigan, The Allied Media Conference and The United States Social Forum. We will be hosting a series of workshops, panels and a live broadcast.
You can listen in to our live radio webstream throughout the Allied Media Conference starting Friday June 18th 11-5, Saturday 9-5:30, Sunday 10-1:30 and during the Social Forum on June 24th and 25th from 3:30 – 5PM here.
The Allied Media Conference (AMC), is taking place from June 18-20, and focuses on transforming communities through media-based organizing. The US SOCIAL FORUM will take place June 22-26, 2010 and will provide a space to build relationships, learn from each other's experiences, and share analysis of the problems our communities face. It will help develop leadership, vision, and strategy needed to realize another world.
We are hosting a series of workshops, panels and broadcasts at the AMC and have helped coordinate a radio track:
Radio Active: From the Streets to the Airwaves
Prometheus, with Peoples Production House, is coordinating this track which will guide people through the nuts and bolts of radio production including interviewing, recording, and editing audio and using your cell phone as a microphone.

Build a Mini Radio Transmitter

When used strategically by grassroots organizations, radio can be an essential tool to building community, denouncing injustices, organizing around campaigns, and facilitating communication. This bilingual workshop is geared towards grassroots, base-building organizations, showing the power of radio to organize communities. This will also feature a multimedia exhibit of our cross country Making Waves Tour.
This is a Prometheus collaboration with Palabra Radio, Project South, The Coalition of Immokalee Workers, Thousand Kites, Detroit Coalition Against Police Brutality
