While some Prometheus members started their voyages on the oceans of aether as pirates to protest media concentration and demand access to the airwaves, the Prometheus Radio Project does not operate any pirate radio stations, nor assist in setting up pirate radio stations. Here's the skinny on who we are.

pete tridish - pete tridish was a member of the founding collective of Radio Mutiny, 91.3 FM in Philadelphia. He is also a founder of the Prometheus Radio Project. In 1997, he was an organizer for Radio Mutiny's demonstrations at Benjamin Franklin's Printing Press -- the station broadcast in open defiance of the FCCs' unfair rules that prohibit low power community broadcasting.. He has been an organizer of “radio barnraisings” in 11 communities around the United States, in which a whole radio station is built by hundreds of volunteers in three days. He actively participated in the rulemaking that led up to the adoption of LPFM, and on the lawsuit Prometheus vs. the FCC, which held back a major round of media consolidation of ownership in the United States. Tridish has helped to build a number of low power radio stations, and provided advice to hundreds. He has done radio trainings in Guatemala, Colombia, Nepal, Tanzania, Jordan and other countries. He has spoken at colleges, coffee shops, living rooms, and even the CATO Institute. He has been interviewed for many dozens of periodicals, news shows, and documentaries. He contributed to articles in the recent books, News Incorporated, and Be the Media. He holds a BA in Appropriate Technology from Antioch College, and he is an SBE certified  Broadcast Radio Engineer. Over the years he has been a carpenter, an environmental educator, a solar energy system installer, a squatter, a homeless shelter volunteer and an activist in many social movements since the age of 16.

Hannah Sassaman - For five years, Hannah Sassaman has led campaigns against Clear Channel, the National Association of Broadcasters, and for responsible limits on media consolidation in the United States. A key organizer of major FCC localism hearings in San Antonio and Rapid City in 2004, as well as in Nashville in 2006, Hannah is just back from building 3 radio stations across Kenya with independent African journalists, community organizations and educational groups. In 2005, she helped coordinate the successful building of an FCC-licensed emergency radio station used by families displaced by Hurricane Katrina. She has been featured in segments on NPR's On the Media, Democracy Now, CNN, C-Span, and a variety of other TV, radio, and print sources. Fresh to Prometheus from the Philadelphia IMC and the University of Pennsylvania, Hannah is banned from all official National Association of Broadcasters events.

Anthony Mazza - Anthony received his BAS in Sociology from Temple University in 2000. He began with Prometheus as a volunteer in the Fall of 2002, joining the staff in 2003 as Administration Director. In the following years, he took on the primary responsibility of ensuring a sustainable future for the organization. This has included working with the Board of Directors to establish both short term and long-term development and fundraising goals, as well as organizing day-to-day administrative tasks. With the addition of a dedicated development director in late 2006, Anthony's role has shifted to that of a business director, focusing on office administration and the management of Prometheus' finances. In addition to his work at Prometheus, Anthony is a leading organizer in the Philadelphia Independent Media Center and Radio Volta, a community-based Internet radio station in Philadelphia.

Andy Gunn - Andy joined Prometheus in February of 2005, taking on the primary responsibility of providing technical support to stations and applicants. He also organizes the technical aspects of barnraisings and the other projects which Prometheus takes on. This includes expanding the Technical Services program and creating documentation that people - not just engineers - can use to build their stations and train their staff. Andy believes strongly in de-mystifying the technology that surrounds us, and enabling people to take on technical projects that are an excellent learning experience. He holds a BS in Computer Engineering from Columbia University in the City of New York. He is a SBE Certified Radio Broadcast Engineer and Certified Networking Technologist.

Corey Mark - After earning a BA in Psychology from Swarthmore College, Corey postponed a prospective career in counseling to understand, first hand, the life issues of those whom he would intend to serve. Motivated by a belief that academic learning would not suffice, he began on a path that would lead him to the conviction that the well-being of greater society must be achieved through fighting for a democratic media.  Drawing from a diverse background of fundraising and organizing experience, Corey joined Prometheus in December of 2006 to advance the organization's modes of communication and broaden the scope of Prometheus' development program.
